“Links are SEO fuel”! I saw that advert on a website specialized on web marketing and found it Amazing! My work proved me that links are definitely crucial for engine optimization. However, I'm not sure links are enough because it seems to me that business usually underestimate the importance of regularity of the contents' refreshment. Not only It is a good thing for a business to have a multitude of web “points” (ning, blogs, Flickr, Facebook...) but it is also very important to actualize their contents.
Why don't business do it enough? A business has two basic solutions if it wants to work on its web-marketing: suppliers or to hire someone.
Often businesses run their web-marketing through 3rd parties and those suppliers can't afford working on the content (because either they don't know enough their client to do that or don't do that work for different reasons) which means that even if the supplier makes a great job on SEO, SEM and SMO, if the business doesn't write/ create the content, it can be not enough and wouldn't be enough optimized. Businesses often don't have a person dedicated to the web-marketing which means that no one is in charge of that “content”work. This means to me that it could be a great idea for businesses to hire SEO experts cause they could really gain in terms of revenue through that help and could offer a much more personalized offer to their clients.
This situation makes me think that there are two business/job opportunities nowadays: Business will need more and more SEO experts to work for them on their brands. This is probably the moment to specialize ourselves in that area. Shouldn't we think on creating WEB public relation? PR is a job that has always existed and I think that this is the moment to transpose it to the web-marketing.
